The State of Tattoo Removal in Canada
226 clinics, 97 cities, 13,905 reviews: what Canada's tattoo removal industry actually looks like in 2026 — where the clinics are, which lasers they run, how they're rated, and what they charge.
This page is the data behind our directory. Every figure below comes from the InkRemoval.ca clinic database — 226 Canadian tattoo removal clinics collected from public sources and checked in October 2026. We update the directory continuously and refresh this page as the numbers move. If you cite these figures, please link back to this page so readers can see the current version.
Where the clinics are
Three provinces hold almost three quarters of Canada's tattoo removal capacity. Ontario leads, but Alberta punches above its population — Calgary and Edmonton together account for 31 clinics.
| Province / territory | Clinics |
|---|---|
| Ontario | 69 |
| British Columbia | 54 |
| Alberta | 42 |
| Quebec | 25 |
| Saskatchewan | 10 |
| Nova Scotia | 8 |
| New Brunswick | 8 |
| Manitoba | 5 |
| Newfoundland & Labrador | 3 |
| Prince Edward Island | 1 |
| Yukon | 1 |
We found no verified clinics in Nunavut or the Northwest Territories in public listings as of October 2026 — residents there face a flight south for treatment, one of the starkest access gaps in Canadian aesthetic medicine.

The laser gap: most clinics won't say what they use
The single most surprising finding in our data: 125 of 226 clinics (55%) do not publish which laser they use — not on their website, not on their booking pages. The laser platform determines which ink colours can be treated and how many sessions you are likely to need, so this matters more than any before-and-after photo.
Among the 101 clinics that do publish their equipment, picosecond lasers dominate. The most common named platforms:
| Platform | Clinics |
|---|---|
| Candela PicoWay (picosecond) | 28 |
| Cynosure PicoSure (picosecond) | 15 |
| PicoSure Pro (picosecond) | 6 |
| CUTERA enlighten (pico + nano) | 3 |
| Lutronic Hollywood Spectra (Q-switched) | 2 |
At least 57 clinics run a confirmed picosecond platform. For what the platforms actually mean for your tattoo, see our laser comparison guide.
What clinics offer
| Feature | Clinics | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated tattoo-removal studios | 59 | 26% |
| Free consultations advertised | 45 | 20% |
| Medical clinics / dermatology settings | 31 | 14% |
| PMU & eyebrow removal | 22 | 10% |
| Payment plans advertised | 22 | 10% |
| Fading for cover-ups | 21 | 9% |
| Dark-skin treatment explicitly offered | 10 | 4% |
| Flat-fee / unlimited packages | 3 | 1% |
Only 1 in 5 clinics advertises a free consultation, and flat-fee pricing — common in US marketing — is almost unheard of in Canada. Just 4% explicitly advertise treatment for darker skin, even though 1064 nm treatment is well established; our dark skin guide explains what to ask.
How Canada rates its clinics
We verified Google ratings from public sources for 117 of the 226 clinics, covering 13,905 individual reviews. The average is 4.75 out of 5. Forty-four clinics hold a perfect 5.0; 57 more sit between 4.5 and 4.9; only 5 average below 4.0. Where sources conflicted, we published no number at all rather than guess; the last five conflicts were settled by a live Google Maps check on October 22, 2026, and the remaining clinics await a verifiable public source.
What it costs
Canadian per-session pricing in our cost research runs about $125–$225 for a small tattoo, $175–$325 for a medium, and $300–$700+ for large work, with typical completed removals totalling $1,500–$4,000 over 6–10 sessions. The full breakdown — and a free estimator that matches your tattoo to clinics near you — is in our Canada cost guide.
Methodology
Clinics were collected from public business listings, clinic websites and booking platforms in October 2026, then deduplicated and assigned to the city they physically serve. Equipment, services and features were taken from the clinics' own published pages. Ratings were verified from public sources (Google place data excerpts and clinic-published review widgets); where sources disagreed materially, no rating is shown. This page describes the directory as of October 22, 2026 and is refreshed as the directory changes. Suggest a correction or a missing clinic via the contact details on our homepage.
